Graduating from Queen’s University Belfast with a BA Hons in Geography Olive became a career civil servant. Prior to her retirement in 2017 she was Strategy Adviser and Chief of Staff to the Head of the Civil Service for six years. During this time, she supported the political talks process including preparation, and implementation, of the Stormont House Agreement and A Fresh Start.
Her specific expertise incudes Strategic Advice, Briefing, Speech Writing, Political Awareness and Public Affairs, Stakeholder Management, Project Management, Event Management, Leadership and People Management.
Olive received an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire honour in the Queen’s 2018 New Year Honours list for her contribution to Public Service in Northern Ireland. She lives near Belfast, Northern Ireland with her husband and two dogs. She has two grown up children and has many interests including gardening, home improvements, singing, and yoga.
